India’s squad unveiled for Hong Kong Sixes 2026; discarded pacer to lead

Discarded Indian pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar has been named India’s captain for the forthcoming Hong Kong Sixes event, starting Friday, October 30. The Indian squad will include Krunal Pandya, Shashank Singh, Rahul Tewatia, Nitish Rana, Rahul Tripathi and T. Natarajan.

The Hong Kong Sixes event features a unique format in which each team takes the field with only six players. One bowler can bowl two overs, while the remaining four players bowl one over each.

“We are very grateful to the Indian cricket authorities for their support in helping us put together arguably one of the strongest sides that has represented India in the history of the Sixes. This will surely prove to be a quantum leap forward in terms of viewership and further validation for this iconic tournament,” Anuraag Bhatnagar, Director of Marketing and Commercial, Cricket Hong Kong, China, said.

Team India will hope for a better campaign this year after last year’s event ended early. Team India started the HK Sixes 2026 tournament with a two-run DLS win over Pakistan but lost their next matches and were eventually knocked out.

On the other hand, Pakistan enters this edition as defending champions, having defeated the debutants Kuwait in last year’s final.
