Jemimah Rodrigues, a well-known Indian cricket player, has been named Switzerland Tourism’s Friendship Ambassador. The purpose of the appointment is to interact with a new generation of Indian tourists. Rodrigues stated her joy about this new role even though she was still recovering from a high-grade right hamstring strain that prevented her from competing in the Asian Games and the Women’s Asia Cup.
Martin Nydegger, the CEO of Switzerland Tourism, was present when the appointment was announced in Bangalore. India is one of Switzerland Tourism’s top ten source markets, and the campaign’s goal is to draw in more Indian tourists in the fall and winter to lessen the concentration of reservations made between April and June.
All four seasons will be covered by the campaign, with a focus on attracting Indian tourists during the colder months when fewer people usually visit the Alpine nation. This ambassadorial position coincides with Rodrigues’ ongoing recuperation from a serious injury she suffered while playing international league cricket.
India Today quotes Rodrigues saying, “Representing India has always been something very special to me, and wherever I travel, I carry a little bit of home with me. What excites me about this association is the chance to discover Switzerland beyond everything we already know and love about it. I’m looking forward to meeting people, trying new things, exploring different places, and sharing those moments with everyone back home.”
In all formats, Rodrigues has been the primary middle-order batsman for the Indian women’s cricket squad. She scored a huge 127*(134) against Australia in the semi-final of India’s championship-winning WODI World Cup campaign last year. The 26-year-old hitter has played in five Test matches, 62 ODIs, and 131 T20Is for India Women thus far. Additionally, she has participated in significant franchise competitions worldwide.
