In front of the three-match Twenty20 International series against Afghanistan, Indian all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy will join the Indian team in Delhi on Thursday, September 11, after receiving the all-clear from BCCI medical personnel. The first match will take place in the nation’s capital on September 13. On Wednesday, September 9, the 23-year-old finished a final match simulation at the BCCI Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru, passing every test.
Reddy was unable to participate in India’s previous white-ball tours of England and Ireland due to the same injury. For the past few months, he had been putting a lot of effort into his recuperation. After aggravating a left quadriceps issue during the June 2026 ODI series against Afghanistan, the all-rounder made his final game for India.
He was rested for the second match in Lucknow after first getting hurt while bowling in the first ODI in Dharamsala. He returned for the third ODI in Chennai, but he was uncomfortable again, which prevented him from playing for a long time. He had to miss India’s white-ball tours of England and Ireland as a result of the setback.
Reddy passed his fitness test last week, according to sources. He was able to get a spot in the Afghanistan series squad thanks to the outcome. At the BCCI’s Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru, he finished a last match simulation on Wednesday. He did quite well in the session.
Reddy is also a member of India’s Asian Games team. On September 24, the multi-sport competition gets underway. At the 2023 Asian Games in Hangzhou, China, India took home the gold medal in men’s cricket. As the higher-seeded team, they were proclaimed winners following the cancellation of the final match against Afghanistan.
On September 18, the Indian squad will depart Delhi for the Asian Games. Before that, on September 22, they will play Japan in a single Twenty20 International at the Sano International Cricket Ground in Tochigi Prefecture.
