Arjun Tendulkar Misses Out as Goa Announce 16-Member Ranji Trophy 2026-27 Squad

The names of the whole Ranji Trophy team were made public by the Goa Cricket Association on Friday. Despite playing for Goa during the 2022–2023 season, Arjun Tendulkar was left out of the squad. Arjun, the son of legendary cricket player Sachin Tendulkar, has taken 50 wickets for Goa in first-class cricket. The 27-year-old recently missed Goa’s visit to Oman as well. But according to a report, Arjun had made the decision to remain in Goa.

He last played for the state team in the Ranji Trophy match against Kerala at Porvorim in 2025–2026. He also represented Goa in the Vijay Hazare Trophy. On October 11, 2026, at Panaji, Goa will play Baroda in Elite Group A to begin their 2026–2027 Ranji Trophy season. The tournament’s 92nd edition will take place from October 11, 2026, to March 3, 2027.

But the team list did not include Arjun’s name. In the 2025–26 season, Arjun Tendulkar last represented Goa in the Ranji Trophy game against Kerala at Porvorim. He participated in the Vijay Hazare Trophy as well. The playing team and support personnel for Goa’s next campaign have been confirmed. The squad’s management team, which consists of seasoned experts in coaching and management roles, is methodically getting ready for the opening game against Baroda.

NDTV Sports quotes him saying, “The team will be guided by head coach Dinesh Mongia, with Krishna Rao serving as bowling coach, Senior Men’s Director of Coaching and Cricket Operations Prakash Mayenkar, and manager Anil Joglekar. Goa Cricket Association president Mahesh Desai, secretary Tulshidas Shetye and the entire Managing Committee extended their best wishes to the team for the upcoming Ranji Trophy tournament. They conveyed their support and wished the squad success as it prepares to represent Goa on the domestic cricket stage.”

Since joining the state team prior to the 2022–2023 Ranji Trophy season, Arjun Tendulkar has been a consistent member of Goa’s domestic cricket team. His contribution to the team’s bowling attack over those seasons was highlighted by his recent achievement of 50 first-class wickets for Goa. Given that milestone, his exclusion from the 2026–27 squad is noteworthy. He also missed Goa’s visit of Oman. No injury has been proven to be the cause of his exclusion, and the selectors have not provided a public explanation.
