IND vs WI 2nd T20I: Why Is Vaibhav Sooryavanshi Not Playing Against West Indies?

In the second Twenty20 International between India and the West Indies at the JSCA International Stadium Complex in Ranchi, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi was benched once more. The 15-year-old was named Player of the Series after demonstrating his abilities in the series against Zimbabwe earlier in the year. Sanju Samson, a batter from Kerala, was included in the three-match Twenty20 International series against Afghanistan because the team management felt that he should have more opportunities.

The visiting team chose to field first in the toss that was held prior to the game. At the toss, India captain Shreyas Iyer announced that his team would field the same starting lineup as the first game, which took place in Lucknow on October 6.

Sooryavanshi was not included in the starting lineup for the first Twenty20 International, and because the same eleven was chosen, he will remain out. Abhishek Sharma and Sanju Samson occupy the opening positions in India’s batting lineup, making room for top-order batsman Sooryavanshi. For the second Twenty20 International, the West Indies made one substitution: Gudakesh Motie replaced Matthew Forde.

After the toss, Hope said, “Considering T20 cricket and how the West Indies have played, we’re comfortable chasing. But again, we’ve got to look at the conditions we’re playing in here in India. It’s already a bit wet, so it’s going to get even worse as the evening goes on. We’re just going to try to put them under pressure with the ball and then chase them down.”

In the second Twenty20 International, West Indies chose to bowl first after winning the toss. According to Captain Shai Hope, the circumstances were a major factor in the choice. Additionally, he verified that Gudakesh Motir was back in the starting lineup following the visitors’ loss in the first Twenty20 International.
